Is Your Page Full of Eternal Ink?

"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the
Book of Life.  And the dead were judged according to their works,
which were written in the books. [Revelation 20:12]

I dreamed I was in heaven, where an angel kept God's book.

He was writing so intently, I just had to take a look.

It was not at first his writing, that made me stop and think,

But the fluid in the angel's pen, that was marked "Eternal Ink."

This ink was so amazing, dark black upon his blotter,

But as it touched the parchment, it became clear as water.

The angel kept on writing, but as quickly as a wink,

The words that he was writing, were disappearing with that ink.

The angel took no notice, but just kept writing on and on,

He turned each page and filled it up, until all the space was gone.

I thought he wrote to no avail, his efforts were so vain,

For he wrote thousands of pages that he would never read again.

As I watched and wondered, at this awesome sight of mine,

I actually saw a word stay in black, as the ink dried upon the line.

As the angel wrote, I thought I saw a look of satisfaction,

For at last he had some words to show, for all of his earnest action.

Again a line he wrote dried and stayed, as black as black could be,

But strangely enough, were my thoughts, when the next paragraph I could not see.

The book was getting fuller, and the angles records were true,

But most of the pages were blank, with just a few words coming through.

I knew there was some reason, but as hard as I could think,

I could not grasp the significance, of this Eternal Ink.

The mystery burned within me, and I finally dared to ask,

"Please explain to me, the meaning of this task."

What I heard was very frightful, as the angel slowly turned his head,

He looked directly into my eyes, and this is what he said............

"I know you stand and wonder, What are these writing's worth?,

But God Himself has commanded me, to record the lives of those on earth.

This book that I am filling, is a very accurate account,

Of every word and action, and the total value of their amount.

Since you have been watching, I must tell you what is true,

The details of my journal, are strict accounts of you.

God has asked me to watch you each and everyday,

So I have watched you go to work and church,

And I have watched you work and pray."

"But since I was told to document, your life from the start, up through this week,

I wrote down when you were bold and proud, but also when you were meek.

I have recorded all of your attitudes, whether they were good or bad,

And I was very sorry to write, the things that made God sad.

So now I'll tell you the wonder, of this Eternal Ink,

But the reasons of this mystery, will make you stop and think.

This ink that God has created, to help me keep this journal,

Will only record those things, that are really and truly Eternal."

"So much of life is wasted, on the things that matter not,

So instead of my erasing and creating an ugly blot,

I'll continue writing faithfully and let the ink do the rest.

For this Eternal Ink, can decide what's useless and what's best.

So you can see as I write, all that you do and say,

Those deeds that count for nothing, will simply fade away.

One day when this book is opened, as sure as heaven is true,

God's Eternal Ink will tell, what mattered most to you.

If you just live to please yourself, the pages will be bare,

And God will issue no rewards, because you did not care."

"In fact you'll be embarrassed, and you'll hang your head in shame,

Because you did not give yourself, in the love of His Son's name.

Yet maybe there will be a few of those recorded lines that stay,

During those times that you showed love, and you took the time to pray.

But you will always wonder, as you walk through heavens door,

How much more the rewards would be, if only you done more.

For I record what God sees, and I don't even stop to think,

Because I know that the truth will be revealed,

Because it's written in Eternal Ink."

After I had heard all of the angel's story, I fell to my knees and cried,

For I was still dreaming, I hadn't really died.

I said, "O angel, O angel, tell this to the Lord.

When I awake, I'll live my life for Jesus, and I'll do all for His name's sake.

I will fully surrender, and do all He wants me to,

I'll turn my back on self and sin, and whatever is not true.

Though the way may seem long and rough, I promise to endure,

I'm determined to pursue those things, that are holy, true, and pure."

When I awoke from this dream, I started to weep,

For the Lord Jesus Christ told me, "Go and gather My sheep."

With Jesus as my helper, I will win lost souls to thee,

For I know now that His sheep will be with Him for eternity.

I realize now what matters, when my life on this earth is done,

It's to stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and to hear Him say, "Well done."

"For is it really worth it, my life on the brink?,

Knowing now that God keeps books, written in Eternal Ink."

"Should all my life be focused, on the things that turn to dust?"

"No, from this point on I will serve the Lord, it is in Him that I will trust.

I will not send blank pages up to God's majestic throne,

For where those records are going, is my eternal home.

Thank You God for showing me,

Your Lamb's Book of Life, which is written,

In Your Eternal Ink."
